Anti-ageing dentistry

To lessen health problems and degenerative ailments, allowing us to not only age gracefully but also with a better understanding of how technological advancements in medicine can also improve our quality of life.  As we get older, our teeth wear down and our bite weakens and gets worse.   By rebuilding the bite back to the level it was when the patient was younger, we can in effect ‘turn back the clock’.  The patient’s appearance will be younger. The lips are fuller, and the age lines on the face are significantly reduced without  dermal fillers. This immediate lifestyle enhancement is far more permanent than injections or face lift procedures and treatments.

Teeth whitening

One of the most common anti-aging dentistry treatments we offer is teeth whitening.  Over time and as we get older, teeth naturally lose their whiteness with diet and lifestyle factors significantly contributing.  For example, if you have excessively consumed alcohol and coffee or smoked for a number of years, it’s likely that your teeth will be stained and may need to be whitened.  Fortunately, there is a quick fix for the loss of whiteness through our in-surgery and home teeth whitening treatments.

Cosmetic bonding

As well as teeth losing whiteness over time, it’s also common for teeth to have become chipped.  The older we get, the more prone we are to needing treatments such as cosmetic bonding that can repair any minor to moderate imperfections and restore our smile.  For cosmetic bonding treatments, our dentists are able to pace a composite material over your current tooth that matches the current teeth shade in order to produce that natural look and appearance.

Dental Veneers

If cosmetic bonding doesn’t feel like the right treatment for you, it’s likely that porcelain veneers may be the next best alternative.  Porcelain Veneers are thin, custom-made facings of tooth-coloured materials designed to bond to the front side of teeth to improve the appearance of teeth. They help to give you a chance to have a new confident and beautiful smile.  Veneers are ideal for correcting poorly formed or misaligned teeth.

Dental Crowns

In some cases, it may not be possible to go ahead with composites or veneers if the tooth is too damaged.  If this is the case, it’s likely that full coverage crowns are your next best alternative.  Full coverage crowns work by covering the whole of your tooth and are ideal for teeth that are decaying beyond repair.  Crowns can be made from gold and metal alloys, acrylic, porcelain and ceramic. Porcelain or ceramic crowns can be matched to the colour of your natural teeth. Metal alloys are generally stronger than porcelain and may be recommended for back teeth.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge can be an alternative option when filling a gap where a tooth has fallen out or has been removed.  It can help improve aesthetics, stop teeth shifting into a space and prevent biting problems.  Conventional bridges are made by crowning the teeth on either side of a gap and attaching false teeth in the middle so that it appears that it emerges from the gum like the original tooth.

Dental Implants

Implants are one way of replacing missing teeth. A dental implant is used to support one or more false teeth. It is a titanium screw that can replace the root of a tooth when it fails. Just like a tooth root, it is placed into the jawbone. Implants can also be used to support fixed bridges or dentures.  Implant treatment normally has two stages. First, the implant is placed in the jaw. Then, when the jaw has healed, replacement teeth are attached to the implant.
