Why Choose Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are ideal for patients who have gappy and misaligned teeth as they are fantastic for closing up these gaps and improving the structure and colour of a tooth. As well as dental veneers being commonly used for cosmetic purposes, they can also be used to treat damaged teeth. We believe that cosmetic dental treatment such as dental veneers can transform the appearance of your teeth and smile. Dental veneers are used to increase the dimension of the tooth, thicken, lengthen, square or reshape the tooth. This is an ideal solution in instances where there is a chipped tooth, cracked, gaps between teeth, or even stained teeth. Porcelain dental veneers are ultra-thin, tooth coloured laminates made from porcelain. Although they are extremely thin they are very strong. Westbury Dental Care and Implant Centre have the veneers custom made to match existing teeth by a specialist laboratory. We then bond these onto the front of the tooth so that they can last you years, as long as you look after them

FAQs
- To correct poorly formed or misaligned teeth.
- To close spaces between teeth.
- To mask very stained teeth.
- To restore partially broken-down or chipped teeth.
Tooth preparation is minimal and confined to the top layer of the tooth (enamel). A mould of the tooth is taken and is sent to the dental laboratory so that the veneers can be crafted by highly skilled technicians. At the next appointment, the veneer is bonded to the tooth with tooth-coloured resin cement. Patients should be aware that this is usually an irreversible process because it’s necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the shell. Our dentists will advise if veneers are suitable for your teeth.
Composite veneers are additions of composite (white) material on to the teeth to improve the appearance or aesthetics of those teeth. They are used to change the look, shape, and size of the teeth to make them more attractive.
Composite veneers are technically very demanding and should only be done by highly skilled dentists. Composite veneers are done in the dental chair by directly applying and sculpting the material to the teeth by a bonding technique. They need to match the adjacent teeth and be symmetrical, and they must also match the shape of the dental arch and patient’s facial profile.
- To restore broken down or chipped teeth.
- To close spaces between teeth (Composite Veneers can be the ideal choice of treatment to close a gap between two upper front teeth).
- To mask very stained teeth.
When it comes to choosing veneers, it’s important to focus on the following; time, durability and aesthetics. Whilst both are made to match your natural teeth and improve your overall smile, there are a few significant differences that you should consider before making an informed decision. If you’re looking for durability and value for money, we recommend the porcelain veneers as they tend to last anywhere between 10-15 years when properly looked after and maintained.
Moreover, the translucent properties of porcelain allows the veneer to catch light extremely similar to the way that a natural tooth does. If you are unsure about the best Veneers for you, give Westbury Dental Care and Implant Centre a call today and we’ll offer our expert, impartial advice.
