Patient Journey

Purpose: To assess your bite, alignment, and suitability for orthodontic treatment.

Your appointment will include:

  • Full assessment of teeth and bite
  • Discussion of concerns and goals
  • X-rays and scans (if required)
  • Explanation of treatment options
  • Estimated treatment time 

Duration: 30–45 minutes

Outcome: A clear plan 

Following day will receive a treatment plan letter with costs and payment options as well as book in for your first initial appointment

Purpose: To place your braces or provide your first aligners.

What happens:

  • Teeth are cleaned and prepared
  • Brackets or attachments are placed
  • Wires or aligners are fitted
  • Instructions on cleaning and care are given

What to expect after:

  • Mild discomfort or pressure for a few days
  • Temporary speech changes (aligners)
  • Adjustment period of 3–7 days

Purpose: To monitor progress and make adjustments.

These appointments may include:

  • Wire changes or aligner reviews
  • Tightening or adjustments
  • Progress checks
  • Addressing any concerns

Frequency: Every 6–10 weeks

Duration: 15–30 minutes

Orthodontic Aftercare & Maintenance

  • Brush after every meal
  • Use interdental brushes daily
  • Avoid hard, sticky foods
  • Wear retainers as advised after treatment

Purpose: A full assessment of your oral health.

Includes:

  • Medical history review
  • Full dental examination
  • X-rays (if required)
  • Gum health assessment
  • Treatment recommendations

Duration: 30 minutes 

Outcome: A personalised treatment plan

Purpose: Ongoing monitoring of dental health.

Includes:

  • Examination of teeth and gums
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Review of existing dental work
  • Advice on prevention

Recommended: Every 6 months (or as advised)

Purpose: To repair tooth decay or damage.

What happens:

  • Numbing of the area (if required)
  • Removal of decay
  • Tooth-coloured filling placed
  • Bite checked and adjusted

Aftercare:

  • Avoid eating until numbness wears off
  • Mild sensitivity is normal for a few days

Purpose: Removal of a tooth that cannot be saved.

Aftercare basics:

  • Bite on gauze for 30–60 minutes
  • Avoid rinsing or spitting for 24 hours
  • Soft foods only for the first day
  • Avoid smoking for at least 72 hours

Purpose: To prevent gum disease and maintain oral health.

Includes:

  • Gum health assessment
  • Removal of plaque and tartar
  • Deep cleaning where needed
  • Polishing
  • Oral hygiene advice

Duration: 30–60 minutes

Purpose: To assess suitability for dental implants.

Includes:

  • Clinical examination
  • X-rays or scans
  • Discussion of options and timelines
  • Cost breakdown

Implant Aftercare

  • Avoid chewing on the area initially
  • Maintain excellent oral hygiene
  • Follow all post-operative instructions
  • Attend all review appointments
