Here at The Westbury Dental Care & Implant Centre, we always strive to see dental emergencies on the same day so please call as early as possible should you require urgent dental care in New Malden and the surrounding areas.

Here are some examples of the most common dental emergencies;-

  • Severe toothache.
  • Lost filling.
  • Abscess.
  • Severe gum disease and soft tissue bleeding.
  • Partially dislodged tooth.
  • Chipped or broken tooth.
  • Managing Toothache.

Severe Toothache

Severe toothache is the most common dental emergencies that we encounter on a weekly basis.  Call us immediately if you have been experiencing moderate to severe toothache for 2 days or more and we can arrange to see you urgently.  A lot of the patients we see that are struggling with severe toothache have tried various painkillers but are still experiencing excruciating pain.  In this case, it’s essential that we see you as soon as possible.  It’s likely that the pain you are suffering is a result of tooth decay that has got significantly worse over a period of time.  Whilst waiting for an emergency dental appointment, we recommend rinsing your mouth with warm salt water, persisting with painkillers and using pain-relieving gel for your mouth.

When you arrive at our practice, we will examine the root cause of your tooth pain.  If tooth decay is beyond repair, it’s likely that we may recommend root canal treatments.  We always try and preserve your tooth wherever we can but if tooth extractions are necessary for eliminating your pain, this may be an appropriate option.

Prevention

To prevent the need for emergency dental care, we highly recommend looking after your dental health and teeth in the best way possible.  Always maintain consistent and regular dental hygiene habits that are going to pay off in the long-run.  For any further tips and techniques for tooth decay or gum disease prevention, get in touch with us and we will be more than happy to give you our expert advice.  We also recommend preventative dental treatment which requires regular visits to the dentist and our experienced hygienist team.
