Implant Retained Dentures

Westbury Dental Care and Implant Centre are your warm and friendly local dentists that welcome all existing and new patients to our practice with open arms. We provide a multitude of dental treatments including implant retained dentures that allow you to speak with confidence and eat your favourite foods with little compromise. Implant retained dentures are also known as ‘clip on dentures’. A much better alternative to denture adhesives, you will restore your smile without having to go through the pain that other options may cause. With implant-retained dentures, they are held securely in place by several dental implants and are therefore extremely stable yet can be easily removed for cleaning or when eating.

Many patients opt for implant retained dentures as they are unhappy with traditional dentures, the most common concerns they have are:
- Difficulty in eating
- A feeling that they want to be sick or gag when the dentures are worn
- Traditional dentures make them feel uncomfortable in smiling.
Fortunately, we are able to offer a fabulous solution that can significantly improve all of these issues. We can offer implant retained dentures as the perfect solution to uncomfortable dentures. These can make loose and uncomfortable dentures extremely secure.
Here at Westbury Dental Care and Implant Centre, we use only the best and latest up-to-date technology to provide our patients with the highest standards of care in Implant Dentistry. Arrange your FREE consultation with our expert dentists by calling us directly on 020 8942 8943.

Implant Retained Dentures FAQs
In most instances, the length of time takes approximately 7 months for the upper and four months for the lower mouth. Whilst the treatment plan is undertaken and the bone is fusing onto the implants, you can either wear your current dentures or we can make a temporary denture for you to wear.
Implants can fail, however we find that the implants usually last about 15 years and dentures about 6 before they start to wear and stain. We strongly advise good oral hygiene with regular visits to the hygienist at least twice a year. We will always discuss with you our guidance as in some instances you may need 3 or 4 hygienist appointments. This will enable to keep your implants and dentures clean and free from bacteria and disease.
Along with regular hygienist appointments, there are some nylon ring replacement charges. There are small nylon rings that grip the dental implants and retain the denture in place. These over time wear out and need to be replaced. On average, as an indicator, we find that patients often return every 12- 18 months. Some patients prefer to have these very tight and would have the rings replaced every 4 months, whilst others can go 4-5 years without the need to have them changed. Currently the ring replacement fee is £50.
In our opinion this is largely dependent on the condition of your current denture. We strongly feel that the denture should be made to suit the implants placed to avoid complications. We guarantee positive outcomes if we were to do this the other way around.
Our typical treatment fees for implants and a denture is £6-8000, however we will always provide you a treatment plan with costs after your initial consultation and assessment.

Looking after your newly fitted Implant-Retained Dentures is easy. Normal dental routines should be applied to the dentures such as brushing twice daily. You brush dentures in the same way as you would brush your teeth.
