Our guide to great oral health

Oral hygiene is crucial to your health. But, how do you know if your routine is being hindered by a poor choice of products?  With a variety of flosses, mouthwash, and toothbrushes to choose from, it can be difficult to know which devices are really worth your money. And, more importantly, which are best for your smile.

Choosing the right brush can be challenging since there are so many kinds of bristles to select from.  The softer bristles are just as effective as the tough ones for getting in between the bacteria and cleaning your smile. When your toothbrush bristles are too hard, you can cause damage to your gums, leading to gingivitis and receding gums. You may also open the door to an infection.

Electric or manual toothbrushes?

Is there a difference between brushing with a manual toothbrush and brushing with an electric toothbrush? Because electric toothbrushes are manufactured more expensively, they are generally more expensive to purchase.  Whether your toothbrush is manual or electric, as long as you brush twice daily and floss at least once daily, it doesn’t matter.

Whether your toothbrush is manual or electric, as long as you brush twice daily and floss at least once daily, it doesn’t matter.  At what point does convenience become a burden?  When deciding on whether you opt for a manual or an electronic tooth brush, you need to take into account the value against the convenience and effectiveness of them.

Keeping your teeth healthy

In terms of reducing plaque, keeping gums healthy, and keeping your breath fresh, both manual and electric toothbrushes work well. In fact, brushing effectively requires the right technique. In our opinion there are always things to remember when brushing your teeth to make sure that you keep them healthy.  Making sure that you brush them at least twice a day, ensuring that you get to the back of them, brushing for at least a couple of minutes and scrubbing your tongue lightly can all help to keep your mouth healthy and fresh.
